(Highest Priority). With limited recycling infrastructure and high waste mismanagement rates, businesses and organizations that actively reduce waste, eliminate single-use plastics, compost organic waste, and participate in recycling programs can make a significant impact.

Prioritize sourcing products, materials, and services that are locally made, ethically produced, and environmentally responsible. This includes working with suppliers who uphold fair labor and environmental standards, avoiding high-impact resources, minimizing transportation emissions, and supporting local economies through conscious procurement choices.

Adopt energy-efficient technologies, conduct regular audits, and implement smart practices to reduce energy use across operations. This includes using LED lighting, efficient appliances or equipment, renewable energy sources, and encouraging responsible energy habits among staff and stakeholders to minimize environmental impact and lower operational costs.

Implement measures to reduce water consumption and protect local water resources. This includes using water-efficient fixtures and systems, maintaining infrastructure to prevent leaks, collecting rainwater or reusing greywater where possible, and promoting water-saving practices among staff, customers, and community members.

Use of biodegradable, compostable, reusable, or minimal packaging to reduce waste. Avoidance of single-use plastics and high-impact materials. Incentives for customers who bring their containers or bags. Support for circular solutions such as take-back or refill programs, and partnerships with vendors committed to low-waste, sustainable packaging.

Use of eco-friendly, biodegradable cleaning products and non-toxic pest control methods. Avoidance of materials containing harmful chemicals or pollutants. Emphasis on reducing chemical waste through informed choices and staff or community education.
